Rapides Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry which builds houses in partnership with families.  (A family may be a single person or parents or grandparents with children.)

Houses are built by volunteers, under the supervision of a skilled construction manager.  Volunteers must be 16 to work on the construction site.  Individual volunteers are welcome.  Groups of up to 20 may be scheduled to work any Saturday that another group isn't already on the schedule.
